Getaway ratings · out of 5
Canada's best casino resort getaways, rated out of 5
Revised — hotel facts re-read
Lots of Canadian casinos have a hotel somewhere nearby; far fewer are real resorts where the room, dinner, a show and the tables all sit under one roof. This ranking covers only the second kind. Twelve hotels were rated out of 5 on five parts of a weekend — the room counts most, the casino least — and the ten highest ratings are listed here.
Every score is our own editorial call, built only on what the properties and named sources have published. Hotels pay us nothing, and nobody can buy their way up these ratings.
Favourite getaway (not always No. 1): Hilton Lac-Leamy & Casino du Lac-Leamy
Rated just behind Fallsview, but the one we would book for a slow weekend: a five-star Hilton in Gatineau with indoor and outdoor pools heated all year, Amerispa's 17 treatment rooms and an 1,100-seat theatre, a short ten-minute drive from the centre of Ottawa.

No. 1Fallsview, Niagara Falls
★ 4.59 of 5 · Ontario
Wake up to the roar of Horseshoe Falls. This is the weekend most Canadians imagine when they hear “casino hotel”: mist rising past the window, dinner a lift ride away and a headline act on the OLG Stage. Behind the view sit 372 rooms, a casino floor of some 200,000 sq ft with 3,200-plus slots and 110 tables, two theatres and more than twenty places to eat.
You'll love it if…Couples who want the whole weekend in one place — a view to linger over, a big-name concert and a long evening downstairs.
Look elsewhere if…Your idea of a treat is a buffet (there isn't one at present), or young children will want the pool without you in it.
No. 2Hilton Lac-Leamy, Gatineau
★ 4.38 of 5 · Québec
Steam rising off a heated pool in the middle of winter. Picture an outdoor pool steaming in January, a treatment booked at Amerispa, then dinner above the lake: that's the Lac-Leamy weekend. A five-star Hilton joined at the hip to Loto-Québec's Gatineau casino, with lakes either side, ten minutes' drive from Parliament, it adds a theatre seating 1,100 and over 1,400 slots — no Canadian resort pairs spa and casino as completely.
You'll love it if…A slow spa weekend with a flutter on the side, or seeing Ottawa's sights while sleeping across the river in Gatineau.
Look elsewhere if…Someone travelling with you is not yet 18 — the theatre, the bars and the casino all draw the line there.
No. 3Caesars, Windsor
★ 4.37 of 5 · Ontario
A riverside weekend with Detroit glittering opposite. Draw back the curtains at Caesars Windsor and Detroit's skyline is right there across the water. With 758 rooms in two towers it's the largest hotel we profile, in the 5,000-seat Colosseum even the back row is within 225 feet of the stage, and the casino counts upwards of two thousand slots and eighty-plus tables — all in downtown Windsor rather than out by an off-ramp.
You'll love it if…A concert at the Colosseum folded into a riverfront city break, with plenty of room styles to choose between.
Look elsewhere if…Swimming with the children is part of the plan — the only pool is reserved for adults.
No. 4River Rock, Richmond
★ 4.33 of 5 · British Columbia
Off the plane and onto the train — check-in in under half an hour. Here's a getaway that starts at the airport gate: ride the Canada Line about seven minutes from YVR to Bridgeport and you're at the door (downtown Vancouver is roughly eighteen minutes the other way). Waiting inside: 396 rooms, some remarkable suites, Canada's first Gordon Ramsay Steak and a pool with a slide, with a marina on the river outside.
You'll love it if…A stopover on either side of a YVR flight, a weekend built around good restaurants, or a trip without a car at all.
Look elsewhere if…You're chasing a stadium-sized concert; The Show Theatre holds 965.
No. 5Great Canadian, Toronto
★ 4.28 of 5 · Ontario
Land at Pearson, and the weekend starts minutes later. Opened in 2023 beside Woodbine Racetrack, this is the newest of Toronto's big casino resorts, and it makes arrival easy: a free shuttle from Pearson, free parking for anyone who drives. Inside wait 400 rooms, a Theatre seating as many as 5,000, a sauna and steam room beside the pool, and — so the operator says — more slot machines to choose from than anywhere else in Canada.
You'll love it if…Fly-in weekends, a big concert in the 5,000-seat Theatre, and slot lovers who want the widest choice in the country.
Look elsewhere if…You hope for scenery other than a racecourse and suburban rooftops, or 388 sq ft feels small for a standard room.
No. 6Hard Rock, Ottawa
★ 4.06 of 5 · Ontario
A grown-ups-only weekend with a soundtrack. The newest address in our guide threw open its doors on July 3, 2025, and Hard Rock describes it as the first resort in Canada to bring its hotel, casino and venue together completely — rooms, casino and concert hall under one roof. Settle into one of 150 rooms (22 are suites), book Council Oak for dinner, catch a show at Hard Rock LIVE (up to 2,200) and play any hour among 1,500-plus slots. Everyone must be 19, hotel guests included.
You'll love it if…Friends or couples who want a steak dinner, a band and a casino that's still going at dawn.
Look elsewhere if…Anyone in the group is 18 or younger — even the hotel corridors are off limits to them.
No. 7Casino Rama, near Orillia
★ 3.98 of 5 · Ontario
A lakeside road trip to one of Canada's biggest stages. Head north up Highway 400 for a show at the Entertainment Centre, which seats more than 5,000, and sleep at a resort mid-transformation. On Rama First Nation land outside Orillia, Casino Rama has been renovating its rooms since 2025, opened a new spa on the ground floor and added three restaurants, the headliner being Gateway's Atlas Steak and Fish.
You'll love it if…A concert getaway up from the GTA, or a cottage-country weekend with a night at the tables.
Look elsewhere if…You'd rather not drive; Orillia is about two hours north of Toronto and we found no transit option.
No. 8River Cree, Enoch
★ 3.96 of 5 · Alberta
Skates in the boot, a Ramsay dinner booked. Pack the skates: River Cree, just outside Edmonton to the west on the Enoch Cree Nation's land, pairs two NHL-size rinks with one of Alberta's bigger gaming floors and the very first Hell's Kitchen Gordon Ramsay opened in Canada. The hotel has 249 rooms, a free bus runs to West Edmonton Mall, and an 18-storey tower is rising beside it.
You'll love it if…Hockey families, Gordon Ramsay fans and slot players planning an Edmonton weekend.
Look elsewhere if…You've set your heart on the new tower — it's aimed at July 2027.
No. 9Grey Eagle, Calgary
★ 3.88 of 5 · Alberta
Mountains on the horizon, Calgary on the doorstep. On Tsuut'ina Nation land at Calgary's south-west edge, and owned and run by the Nation, Grey Eagle has had a hotel — 178 rooms — since 2014. Ask for a west-facing room and the Rockies fill the horizon; get tickets for a show in the Event Centre (2,500 seats) and a table at Little Chief. One caveat: the pool is closed during a renovation that runs into 2027.
You'll love it if…A concert night in Calgary, or a comfortable base for days out in Kananaskis and Banff.
Look elsewhere if…You can't do without a pool — it's closed while renovations go on.
No. 10Casino New Brunswick, Moncton
★ 3.61 of 5 · New Brunswick
A Maritime road trip where the dog comes too. Atlantic Canada's casino getaway, in Moncton since 2010, is generous with space: its 126 rooms start at 440 sq ft, and the windows actually open — onto the town or towards the mountain. Add a swimming pool, a concert venue, parking you don't pay for and room for the dog, and the Hopewell Rocks and Magnetic Hill are an easy drive.
You'll love it if…Driving holidays in the Maritimes with a pet in the back seat, taking in the Hopewell Rocks and Magnetic Hill along the way.
Look elsewhere if…Room service matters to you, or you like a long list of restaurants under the same roof.

Profiled, but outside the ten
Club Regent, Winnipeg
A simple Winnipeg bed, steps from bingo and the Event Centre
Not a glamorous getaway, but a convenient one: Canad Inns' hotel in east Winnipeg is joined to Club Regent Casino, with 146 non-smoking rooms, some 1,200 slots and a bingo hall next door, and an Event Centre seating 1,300.
Cascades, Langley
Steak, slots and an early night in Langley City
A modest getaway: Gateway's round-the-clock Cascades casino in Langley City, where the Coast hotel next door offers 77 rooms, a satisfying steak at ATLAS and parking that costs nothing. Just don't pack a swimsuit or hope for a show.
