A getaway at Cascades Casino Resort
Revised — hotel facts re-read
A modest getaway: Gateway's round-the-clock Cascades casino in Langley City, where the Coast hotel next door offers 77 rooms, a satisfying steak at ATLAS and parking that costs nothing. Just don't pack a swimsuit or hope for a show.

You'll love it if…A Fraser Valley evening — dinner at ATLAS, then a while on the gaming floor.
Look elsewhere if…A swim or a show is part of your plan; there's no pool and no theatre.
The essentials
The short version
Cascades has been part of Langley City since May 2005, when Gateway Casinos opened it. You'll sleep next door at the Coast Langley City Hotel & Convention Centre, whose 77 rooms were updated in 2018. Choose a Coast King or Coast Two Queens, a Queen in the corner with a sofa bed, or an accessible Queen with roll-in shower; for more space there's an Executive Suite with its own balcony and a Hospitality Suite fitted with a wet bar.
At the tables
Inside the 80,000 sq ft casino: 1,000-plus slots, roulette, blackjack, bingo and a poker room, all open 24 hours. Shows are gone — the 420-seat Summit Theatre shut in 2018 and its space went to the bingo hall.
Eating in
Dinner here usually means ATLAS steak + fish, which Gateway runs as its signature restaurant brand. Breakfast is served to hotel guests in The Breakfast Room; in the evening Match Eatery & Public House has bands and DJs. Every Sunday from 11 am the convention ballroom hosts a brunch buffet, and Glacier Bar pours from late morning (11 am) until 2 am.
Worth knowing
Don't pack a swimsuit — the hotel says outright there's no pool; the gym, though, never closes. Rooms are ready at 3 pm and due back at 12 noon, and parking costs nothing. Pets need the hotel's approval first; then it's $25 a night for one or $40 for two. Driving, you'll reach Abbotsford airport in roughly 30 minutes and YVR in about an hour; nearby sights include the Greater Vancouver Zoo and Fort Langley.
The getaway verdict
A good local casino with a respectable small hotel attached. It isn't trying to be a resort like the ones in our top ten, and that's fine.
