A getaway at Caesars Windsor

Revised — hotel facts re-read

Draw back the curtains at Caesars Windsor and Detroit's skyline is right there across the water. With 758 rooms in two towers it's the largest hotel we profile, in the 5,000-seat Colosseum even the back row is within 225 feet of the stage, and the casino counts upwards of two thousand slots and eighty-plus tables — all in downtown Windsor rather than out by an off-ramp.

You'll love it if…A concert at the Colosseum folded into a riverfront city break, with plenty of room styles to choose between.
Look elsewhere if…Swimming with the children is part of the plan — the only pool is reserved for adults.

The short version

Size and skyline. Seven hundred and fifty-eight rooms make Caesars the biggest hotel in these pages; they're shared between the older Forum Tower and the Augustus Tower, which the resort aims at families. It sits on Riverside Drive in the middle of Windsor, and what most rooms sell you is the view: the Detroit River, then Detroit's towers right behind it.

Which room to book

The baseline Resort Room is roughly 402 sq ft: one king, a big desk, shower and tub kept separate, river outside. A refit of all 758 rooms was announced in 2018, and by September 2019 the Forum Tower's share was done, bringing 55-inch TVs, new carpet and new bedding. Suites, in ascending order: the Resort Deluxe Suite (wet bar, whirlpool tub); the Junior Suite, with a separate living room — and a whirlpool only in the Forum Tower; and the Executive Suite, where you get a butler entrance of its own, a five-piece ensuite in marble, a TV built into the mirror and, in some units, a fireplace.

A word on the bill: check-in is at four, check-out at eleven, and a resort fee of $23.40 a night appeared on the booking page we used, collected when you leave.

At the tables

The August 2023 fact sheet sketches the floor: upward of 2,000 slots and 80 tables, what it calls the province's only live craps game, a Caesars Sportsbook, a room for World Series of Poker play of 1,700 sq ft lit by 22 big screens. Everything casino-side, bars included, is 19+. Join Caesars Rewards and you also get Colosseum presale access.

Showtime

Plenty of guests come to Windsor for one reason: a night at the Colosseum. All 5,000 seats are within 225 feet of the stage, per the resort, and since a July 2026 announcement it's official that every show is all-ages unless that event's listing says otherwise. One date on the calendar when we checked: Alice Cooper, Friday, November 6, 2026.

Eating in

For the big night out, book Neros Steakhouse. Otherwise things are easy-going — Café 377 for breakfast and lunch, sharing plates at Spago Trattoria, a burger at Johnny Rockets, the game on at Legends Sports Bar, and a Tim Hortons downstairs in Forum that keeps its lights on all night. After dinner, take in the skyline at Vu Bar, or local live music at Cosmos Lounge on Friday and Saturday nights. Dancing will mean a short walk: the ARIIUS club moved out to Ouellette Avenue in January 2026, leaving the resort without one.

Downtime

Swimming is for grown-ups only: the indoor pool comes with a generous whirlpool, loungers and towels, and there's a sauna and gym for hotel guests too. No spa appears in the current amenity list we checked.

Getting in and parking

Flying? Windsor International is a short taxi ride away. Driving? Drivers can use all six levels of the Glengarry Avenue garage (number 257) again — repairs that ran for more than a year wrapped up on July 8, 2026. Coming over from Detroit? Coming from Detroit without a car? The private Tunnel Bus sets you down at McDougall and University, near the door, for $15 (no cash).

The getaway verdict

Choose Caesars Windsor for a concert or a two-night downtown escape when you'd like plenty of room options. It shines brightest for a couple's weekend; a family can make Augustus work, but swims will have to happen somewhere else.
