Family-friendly casino hotels in Canada

A family getaway at a casino hotel works better than you'd think: the age rule covers the gaming floor and certain bars, not the building as a whole. What varies is how much there is for kids to do, and at one resort whether they can come in at all. Our picks, best first:

    Enoch (Edmonton), Alberta

    No casino resort in Canada does more for kids. Since July 29, 2024, children with an adult may go anywhere that isn't gaming; there's public skating on two NHL-size rinks, a pool with a whirlpool, a Luxury Family Suite to book, and a free bus to West Edmonton Mall, five minutes away.

    Niagara Falls, Ontario

    The casino is the only 19+ zone; children are welcome everywhere else. Under-12s can swim with a parent, and the Butterfly Conservatory, Bird Kingdom and Clifton Hill are all close by. A room facing the falls is half the fun.

    Kids can share a room booked by a guest 19 or over. Families of up to six fit in the 2-Bedroom Suite, which has a microwave and fridge; there's a pool with a hot tub; and most days you can watch races at Woodbine next door for free.

    Water slide in the pool, several restaurants labelled all-ages, and the Canada Line for days out in Vancouver. Whoever checks in has to be 19 or older.

    Children can stay with an adult and must be supervised at the pool if under 12. Hopewell Rocks, Magnetic Hill and its zoo make Moncton a handy family stopover on a road trip.

    Standard Two Queen rooms are the ones the hotel suggests to families, Event Centre shows admit all ages, and Heritage Park and the Calgary Zoo aren't far. The hotel pool is closed for renovation, but guests get free passes to city pools.

Leave the kids at home for these

Nobody under 19 gets into any part of Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa, hotel and restaurants included. Caesars Windsor is a closer call: it promotes the Augustus Tower to families and admits all ages to Colosseum shows, but children can't use the pool.
