Caesars Windsor: our review
Updated · facts checked
Caesars Windsor is the biggest hotel we review — 758 rooms in two towers, most looking across the water at Detroit's skyline — and its 5,000-seat Colosseum keeps every seat within 225 feet of the stage. The casino adds 2,000-plus slots and 80-plus tables, and you're downtown, not out by a highway.
Ideal for: A Colosseum show plus a downtown riverside break, with lots of room types to pick from.
Think twice if: The kids want to swim — only adults may use the indoor pool.
The short version
Size and skyline. With 758 rooms, Caesars Windsor is the largest hotel we cover, split between the Augustus Tower (the resort pitches it to families) and the older Forum Tower. It sits on Riverside Drive in the middle of Windsor, and what most rooms sell you is the view: the Detroit River, then Detroit's towers right behind it.
Which room to book
The baseline Resort Room is roughly 402 sq ft: one king, a big desk, shower and tub kept separate, river outside. Renovations covering all 758 rooms were announced in 2018; the Forum Tower's were complete by September 2019, bringing 55-inch TVs, new carpet and new bedding. Suites, in ascending order: the Resort Deluxe Suite (wet bar, whirlpool tub); the Junior Suite, with a separate living room — and a whirlpool only in the Forum Tower; and the Executive Suite, where you get a butler entrance of its own, a five-piece ensuite in marble, a TV built into the mirror and, in some units, a fireplace.
Budget note: rooms are yours from 4 pm to 11 am, and the booking page we used added a $23.40-per-night resort fee, charged at checkout.
At the tables
Numbers from the property's fact sheet (August 2023): 2,000-plus slots and 80-plus table games, plus — in the sheet's words — Ontario's only live craps game, a room dedicated to World Series of Poker play, and a 1,700 sq ft Caesars Sportsbook with 22 large screens. Everything casino-side, bars included, is 19+. Join Caesars Rewards and you also get Colosseum presale access.
Showtime
Plenty of guests come to Windsor for one reason: a night at the Colosseum. All 5,000 seats are within 225 feet of the stage, per the resort, and since a July 2026 announcement it's official that every show is all-ages unless that event's listing says otherwise. One date on the calendar when we checked: Alice Cooper, Friday, November 6, 2026.
Eating in
For the big night out, book Neros Steakhouse. The rest is relaxed: burgers at Johnny Rockets, Legends Sports Bar, Italian-style family plates at Spago Trattoria, breakfast or lunch at Café 377, and a Tim Hortons on the Forum Tower's main floor that never shuts. After dinner, take in the skyline at Vu Bar, or local live music at Cosmos Lounge on Friday and Saturday nights. Clubbers should note that ARIIUS left in January 2026 for a new address on Ouellette Avenue, so there's no nightclub in the resort now.
Downtime
The indoor pool is adults-only — big whirlpool, lounge chairs, towels provided — and hotel guests also have a sauna and fitness area. No spa appears in the current amenity list we checked.
Getting in and parking
Flying? Windsor International is a short taxi ride away. Driving? The six-storey garage at 257 Glengarry Avenue has been fully open again since July 8, 2026, after repairs that lasted over a year. Coming over from Detroit? The privately run Tunnel Bus drops you near the resort at McDougall and University — $15, cards only.
The getaway verdict
Choose Caesars Windsor for a concert or a two-night downtown escape when you'd like plenty of room options. It's at its best for couples; families can stay in the Augustus Tower but will have to find a pool elsewhere for the kids.
Good to know before you book
Is the Caesars Windsor pool open to kids?
No — the fact sheet describes an indoor pool with a whirlpool hot tub that is for adults only.
Can teenagers attend Colosseum shows?
Usually: the resort says Colosseum shows are all-ages unless a specific show says otherwise. Casino areas stay 19+.
How much is the Caesars Windsor resort fee?
$23.40 a night on the booking page we checked, payable at checkout.
